Before we delve into our veterans’ stories, I wanted to share an exciting project with you all. Cheryl Millard has photographed many of Peabody’s Veterans Memorials, and she has shared her photographs with us.

We have put them up on our website.

Peabody’s Veteran Memorials

This is just a starting point. Please let us know any we may have missed.

World War I (1917-1918)

World War II (1941-1945)

Korean War (1950-1953)

Vietnam War (1964-1975)

Gulf War (1990-1991)

War on Terror (2001-2021)

We have very few items from the War on Terror, as it so recent. However, I wanted to share this image sent to me by SFC Dave Nicholson.

On the left is Sergeant First Class Dave Nicholson (Army) and on the right is Senior Airman Jonatam Dos Santos (Air Force). This was taken in 2013 at Camp Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan. They worked building housing, bathrooms, barracks, roads and mess halls for the Afghan National Police and Army. Both men played on the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School Lacrosse team at different times.
