Applications for the George & Rachel Shaw Scholarship are administered by the Peabody Historical Society and funded by Sylvia Shaw Marble in honor of her parents, George and Rachel Shaw. The scholarship is for $3,000.

To be eligible**, a student must be (1) a resident of Peabody, (2) completed or currently completing their sophomore year in college or beyond, and (3) a full-time college student carrying at least twelve credits per semester.

**If you have previously won the Shaw Scholarship, you are ineligible to apply again.

The 2024 George and Rachel Shaw Scholarship was awarded to Sofia Valencia of Peabody. She graduated from the PVMHS Class of 2022, where she was secretary of the PVMHS National Honor’s Society, and volunteered over 100 hours at her parish, St. John’s. She is currently a sophomore at Tufts University, where she is studying Biopsychology, with a minor in Child Study and Human Development. She is the president of the Philippine Student Union, a safety officer for the Tufts Gymnastics Team, as well as an avid member of the Tufts Pre-Physician Assistant Society, Boxing Club and Ballroom Dance Team. Her goal is to become a physician’s assistant. We are excited to see all that Sofia will accomplish!
